SPEECH BY HIS EXCELLENCY DR. HAGE GEINGOB, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA AT THE OCCASION OF THE MAY DAY COMMEMORATION, KUISEBMUND SPORT STADIUM/WALVIS BAY, MAY 1, 2015
It is my privilege to join you, today here in one of our hardest working towns, the Town of Walvis Bay. This is a day we celebrate and honour those men and women whose hard work and labour drives our economic development.
"No society has any right to forget it's workers, because they are the real heroes of society!" Those are the words once uttered by novelist Mehmet Murat Ildan.
So we are here today because Namibia does not forget its workers. We do not forget your sacrifice, discipline, perseverance, commitment and most importantly your patriotism and commitment to a better future not only for your families but for the family of the Namibian House. It is with this in mind that I accepted this invitation from the National Union of Namibian Workers to join our workers here today to celebrate and emphasize the importance and value of May Day or Workers Day.
