Your Excellencies, (...) Good Afternoon
Let me take this opportunity to welcome you all to this pressbriefing and to thank you for responding to our invitation. As you areall aware, tomorrow will be a historic day for the Malagasy people as they goto the polls to exercise their democratic right and vote in these crucialelections. The elections are aimed at ending the political and constitutionalcrisis that the country has faced for over four years.
Allow me to paytribute to the National Independent Election Commission for the Transition(CENI-T), and in particular it’s President Madam Beatrice Atallah, and herstaff for their hard work, professional competence and dedication they haveshown in organizing this elections in a relatively short period of time.
These elections arebeing held under the legal framework established by the Road Map, which includethe institution of the transition, notably the Government of National Unity,the Parliament of the Transition, The Special Electoral Court and the NationalIndependent Election Commission for the Transition, the CENI-T, and otherinstitutions established for the Transition.
I wish to paytribute to the leaders of all the Institutions of the Transition for theirspirit of cooperation and consensus that allowed the people of Madagascar toreach this crucial period in their history. read more....
