(...), Not long ago, I was together with some of you in the Kingdom of Swaziland to Observe Elections in that country. Today, we meet on yet another equally important SADC Election Observer Mission, this time in the Republic of Madagascar.
On behalf of the SADC Chair of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, I wish to take this opportunity to express sincere appreciation to you all for making yourselves available to undertake yet another mission away from your families and your work. However, I believe that this is a sacrifice worth making.

Namibian Election Observer Mission to Madagascar
The Republic of Madagascar is preparing for their Presidential Elections on 25 October 2013, followed by Parliamentary and Presidential Run-off Elections on 20 December 2013. There are currently 22 approved contenders slated to run for the Presidential Elections on 25 October 2013.
In this regard, Namibia has sent a delegation comprised of officials from several Offices/Ministries/Agencies to observe the elections. Read more...

Angola and Namibia sign accord in fisheries domain
Luanda – The bilateral ties between Angola and Namibia in fisheries domain are now more strengthened with the signing on Friday here of a bilateral cooperation agreement on professional interchange, training, manufacturing, sales and management of marine resources.
The Angolan Minister of Fisheries, Victoria de Barros Neto and her Namibian counterpart, Bernhard Esau, signed the protocol at the end of a technical meeting.
Speaking to the press at the end of the ceremony, the Angolan minister said that the agreement aims at strengthening cooperation ties between both countries and this accord is a need of both governments that share common marine resources and need to strengthen target knowledge for exploration.
According to her, both countries services of fishing exploration have to share information and data as well as organising joint research campaigns to cover all areas of distribution of fishery resources, so it needs continued cooperation with Namibia, not only at institutional level but also with the private business sector of the two states.
On his turn, the Namibian Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources stressed that the agreement will permit betterment of the living condition of the Angolan and Namibian people, thus, contributing to the reduction of poverty, eradication of hunger and guaranteeing food security for the the two countries' citizens.
